Thoughts:So last night I decided that I need some glitter nail polish toppers (I have none!), and also that I need to start painting my nails again! I got some great polishes today, and also painted my nails which you’ll see tomorrow (more on that then). Separate from that, I really should try to get a couple more wears out of this sweater vest before the weather warms up! Though it will certainly work well all through transitional spring weather which, for me, lasts all the way until June.
Behind the outfit:I haven’t worn this vest in a while (eep over a month, I just checked!), so today I wanted to create an outfit around it. After today’s outfit I’ve tried it over nearly all of my types of shirts, tees, woven blouses, and now sweaters; woven billowy blouses are still my favorites, too bad I only have a handful. Anyway! I chose this sweater to add a little color, plus it’s very fitted and a fine gauge which is a necessity when wearing under a chunky knit to keep things from getting too bulky.
I like wearing flared jeans with my furry vests to play up the 70s vibe, which I did again today, but it’s certainly not a requirement. I chose these charcoal booties to keep the footwear low contrast, but now I’m thinking my teal pumps would’ve been more fun here. For the outerwear I decided to wear warm accents (rust scarf, gold purse) to contrast the cool indoors (blue-green, gray) look. Thoughts:Just a quick casual outfit for dinner (still have a couple days of vacation left, and I’m totally taking advantage and lounging around). Not great but not horrible; I’m starting to feel like I need a break from wearing sweaters! I tied the scarf one way (top right), but then decided it looked wimpy so changed it; it looked so much better I had to take another photo (bottom right).

Thoughts: Third Annual Friend Thanksgiving was a resounding success! We ended up with 15 people (!!) this year, and had a great night. It got a bit hectic as dinner approached as usual, and I must say having the new kitchen furniture was a huge help both in terms of counter space and having all of our tools available to cook with!
For the foodies, our final menu consisted of: home smoked turkey, ham, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy, spiced cranberries, steamed green beans with garlic, corn on the cob, brussel sprouts with bacon, spinach salad, baked yams with marshmallows, orange jello with shredded carrot, stuffing, and sweet honey rolls. And a special pasta dish for our two vegetarian guests. Later for dessert there was home made fudge, ice cream, pie AND deep-fried pie. Everyone was in a rush to dig into the food, so I couldn’t snap a photo of the spread but here’s everything and (almost) everyone in action! (There we so many people that the tables extended way past the dining room and halfway into the front room!)
Behind the outfit:For today’s outfit I needed something that I could pop inside/outside in, be comfortable both cooking and hostessing, and I wanted to be on the casual side. Initially when I thought of this sweater I was concerned that it would be too warm for the cooking part, but decided to try it with a short sleeved tee which worked quite nicely. I paired these boots (to add another black element since the rest of the outfit was light) for the last minute groceries run, and had planned to change into my black flats once I got back home but they were comfortable enough so I just left them on all day. Thoughts: You guys, I love this outfit! I had tried this vest and top together last Tuesday and decided it was too casual for the type group, but I still wanted to wear it in an outfit. So glad I did! Definitely one of my favorites recently, and clearly shows me how much I want more soft blouses in my wardrobe; I love the dose of glam this flowy blouse coupled with the faux fur gives (though the vest is decidedly casual due to the chunky knit).
Behind the outfit:This 70s inspired outfit follows a formula I’ve been dying to wear since last fall: soft blouse + fur vest + flared jeans + boots/heels. I’ve never worn it before because I’ve only just in the last month (finally) bought my furry vests; and as I have just this year started wearing soft blouses, I only have a couple of them. I pulled this blouse from my summer wardrobe, so it wasn’t quite warm enough for the season but really I just wanted to give it a try. Definitely reinspired to improve my blouse wardrobe.
I also like how the romantic blouse looks paired with the sportier vest; fun juxtaposition. Plus I rarely wear blush tones, though I am drawn to peachy shades. This outfit is certainly softer and girlier than what I usually wear, and I think the flared jeans add to that; for some reason I’m picturing that skinnies would look tougher. I left the jewelry minimal to play up the softness (no necklace makes it especially soft, because of the exposed skin).
Lastly, I haven’t really talked about it on the blog much but I change my lip color daily to match my outfits (I’ll do a post about it soon!). Formula for soft 70s fur: soft blouse + fur vest + flared jeans + boots/heels

Here is what I bought this past weekend during the YLF meetup shopping trip. We shopped at the outlet mall up in Tulalip, and I got some great basics to replace some of my cheaper, lower quality pieces, as well as some toppers (can’t have enough of those in Cascadia!) and accessories (I’m 100% on Team You Can’t Have Too Many Accessories).
This is my second major round of fall purchases; first was back in July during NAS and was composed almost entirely of items that filled wardrobe holes (black tall boots, black skirt, charcoal wool shorts, dressy blouse, camel blazer, black shirt-dress, black pants) and some additional straggler filler pieces in the meantime (leopard cardigan, utility vest, kitten heels, cheetah booties). Thought it’d be fun to post this round unstyled (OK they look kind of styled, but really I just piled everything on to reduce the number of photos).
One of the things I’m excited about with these items is that not only do they go with tons in my wardrobe, but they all go with each other. They’re totally a mini fall capsule (minus bottoms, I suppose), and have a definite gamine vibe which I’m excited to play with this season.
