Thoughts:A quick, relaxed outfit for breakfast. I reach for this slouchy sweater a lot on the weekends, then decide against wearing it because it’s brown. I think I’m going to look for a couple of these in bright happy colors, and a lightweight gauge for spring weekend outfits! They’d pair well with any of my slim jeans, and will look great with white jeans if I can manage to find myself a pair this year; they’d also be really cute with shorts+boots on warmer spring days. I like my fitted sweaters just as much, but I have to say I really love the extra slouch of oversized sweaters on the weekend. Thoughts:

Thoughts:Well, as much as I shopped yesterday, I still had to go back out today to pick up a few more things. I didn’t have much energy to put into dressing this morning so I used my simple sweater formula (seriously, having those tagged is just awesome), and this is actually a variation on the outfit I wore for Friend Thanksgiving. I also decided to act on my newly realized desire for more dramatic looking scarf treatments for my outerwear! I’m pretty darn tired after the last couple days, let me tell you. BUT I am super excited for tomorrow: my husband and I bought tickets to the Seahawks vs. 49ers game tomorrow as an xmas gift to ourselves. CAN”T WAIT.

Thoughts:The last several years my husband and I have been going to a u-cut farm up in Arlington to get our xmas trees, and spending the day wandering around a mini forest is a lot of fun! This year all the trees were trimmed narrow and straight (guess that’s what’s trendy in Christmas trees this year; a friend of mine saw this in stores when looking for a plastic tree as well!). It was ridiculously hard to find a good fat, dense tree. We spend a good few hours and walked through, like, the whole farm (it’s not small, let me tell you) before finally finding our tree. Can’t wait to decorate, I love putting on lights and ornaments!
Behind the outfit:Today’s forecast was “wet and cold”, so I needed waterproof footwear and outerwear. These boots are synthetic and are my go-to boots when it’s really wet, but they don’t really have any traction and aren’t quite good enough as a proper rain boot/mud boot (that’s a hole I need to fill for sure). I decided to wear my straight leg jeans for a really relaxed vibe, and then the gingham just felt like it fit. A little bit country, a little bit preppy.
I also rarely wear my raincoat (must be the Cascadian in me), though it is nice and cheerful. It was certainly too cold not to have a scarf, so I picked this dotty brown one to add a little whimsy. Crossbody was practical for the purse, though I ended up leaving it in the car. Behind the outfit:As I said yesterday, travel played a big part in today’s outfit as we would be in the car for 3.5 hours. Same boots, accessories, coat, and purse as yesterday; I just swapped the sweater and bottoms. Takes very little extra room, and gives a fairly different look since I wore shorts+tights yesterday, and even more so since yesterday’s outfit was dark while today’s is light. Thoughts:Decided I felt well enough to go to the Holiday Alefest (of course), and we had a fantastic time (we’ve been going for years)! My husband and I were one of the driving vehicles, and two of our friends drove with us. We loaded up on candy, snacks, and water for the 3.5 hour drive. Once in Portland we dropped our friends off at their hotel, drove over to ours to check in and drop our stuff and car off, and met up with all of our friends (12 of us!) at the Alefest itself.
We spent several hours at the Alefest, and there were tons of great winter beers to try (lots of wood aged beer this year, it was definitely one of the major trends). Happily I was able to try all the ones I wanted to (I made a list on the drive down!). I am also happy to report that I saw a lot of stylishly dressed ladies there, and a fabulous variety of boots. Afterwards we walked to Kelly’s Olympian for a short stop before dinner to regroup, then we all walked over to Deschutes Brewery for a yummy dinner!
After dinner we walked to Ground Kontrol to play some pinball and arcade games. I got myself on the top 10 scores for both Asteroids AND Tempest (woo!). Big fun day with a big fun group! Lastly, a photo of the beautiful view out of our hotel window which was on the 19th floor.
Behind the outfit:There were a lot of outside requirements for this weekend’s outfits. For one, my husband and I pack really lightly when we travel; since this trip is just one night away, we only brought a backpack with all of our stuff in it. For two, since we drove down to Portland I needed outfits that would be comfortable for 3+ hours in the car. For three, today’s outfit also needed to be comfortable enough to stand and walk in for several hours, as well as be able to go from car to cold outside to warm tent. And lastly, of course, both outfits needed to be stylish :)
I started with the footwear; I picked these boots because they are one of my most comfortable pairs, and are one of my few all day walking shoes (something I really need to remedy). I haven’t been very good at varying my outfit silhouettes lately and am feeling a bit bored of skinnies+boots (*gasp*), so instead of skinny jeans I thought it’d be fun to wear my wool shorts with sweater tights. Since it’s cold out I wanted to wear a sweater, and after trying a few I ultimately decided to wear this brown sweater because one, the brown echoes the boots (though the top is cool and boots are warm), and two, I liked how the slouchiness looked with the shorts/tights/boots. I brought just this one coat, scarf, and purse for the trip, though I think my longer wool coats would work better with the shorts (I’m feeling a little seasonal disconnect with the shorts and puffer).](http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ly1ad5LyIb1r584afo1_1280.jpg)

Behind the outfit:Today I wanted to wear something loose (gotta leave room for all that food!), but still a little dressy. This blouse’s loose, swingy shape paired with slim jeans affords me a little extra tummy room while still being nice and sleek looking. Another reason I picked this blouse was that I knew I would be very warm, and this blouse is not only sheer but also silk. I probably should’ve put my hair up to keep it out of the food (joking!), but I liked how the curls looked with the soft blouse.
